Nürburgring Oldtimer GP 2002 1989 I got into classic and collector cars by a collegue and friend of mine. I had asked him for a convertible that should be affordable and he recommended the Fiat X1/9. At that time I didn't know anything about this car. I just did not want to drive a regular (closed) car such as an Opel Kadett or a Volkswagen Rabit as everybody else did. So I went to the next Fiat dealer to explore an X1/9 and found it affordable but already sold. The dealer recommended a nice clean black VW Rabit GTI which I bought right away. O.k., after three months I boroughed it to a friend who wrecked it after a day. But after another week I bought a red 81 model X1/9 where the reverse gear was broken. I was the king among my friends. The car was so exclusive that every Rabit-GTI driver suddenly was not intereresting anymore. Unfortunately I only owned the car for the summer and the missing reverse gear was no fun.
By the German X1/9 forum I got to know other X1/9 fans and made a couple of new friends. With much interest I take part in the X1/9 forum. My meanwhile very good friend Albert from Puerto Rico was the first one telling me something about the Filipinetti X1/9. He is the one to blame for this all. Before this I didn't know anything about the favorite scuderia. |

In spring 2001 I saw a nice dark red X1/9. I suddenly felt like 10 years behind and I could not get this car out of my mind anymore. Another two weeks later I had inquired about a black X1/9 in Leverkusen that was imported from Florida. Yes and again 2 weeks later I bought the car, picked it up and drove it to my place.
